PIKAIA IMAGING

This image, showing our galaxy from the outside, was first commissioned by New Scientist magazine in 2005, and appeared as a fold-out poster.

It has proven to be Pikaia’s most successful image to date and has subsequently  appeared in many international publications, as well as being requested by private individuals for domestic or educational display.

The image was produced to be capable of very large printings, taking advantage of modern digital printing facilities, and has been taken up to A0 (841 mm x
1189 mm – 46.81 in x 33.11 in).

All the objects labeled in the image are accurately positioned in relation to each other using their known co-ordinates, and have been orientated together with the main body of the galaxy to show them to their best advantage.
